She bids farewell to her sister Connie Mayette, her brother in law Mike Mayette, and nieces Kate and Amanda. She has two treasured grandchildren, Cody and Cassie Brawn. A beloved son, Andrew Packard, went on before her to guide her along the path to heaven. She is survived by her husband, Stephen two sons, Allen and Sarah, Darren and Liza Brawn. At the time of her death she was working on becoming less judgmental and more accepting, more educated, more loving, more artistic, more serene, less hurried and less affected by daily interruptions from “crazy makers”. She enjoyed talking about those experiences and encouraging others to reach out and help the less fortunate.

She met many lifetime friends on her missionary trip to Haiti.
#Joyce gesundheit Patch
She followed her heart to Siberia with the Patch Adam’s Gesundheit Foundation and met many soul mates with whom she stayed close the remainder of her life. She will be remembered by family, friends and hospital trustee colleagues at the local, state and national level because of her passion for life and her ability to have fun, all the while having a tremendous willingness to serve and give her time in the support of what she believed in. The world will suffer the loss of her contributions in the area of public trust and advocacy, and her willingness to be an outspoken community representative. Joyce was proud to be a member of the Institute for Global Ethics and belonged to the Newport Women’s Club, the Sebasticook Valley Chamber of Commerce, and other clubs. She was a member of the High Street Church, Hospices of Somerset and Penobscot County, a Trustee of Sebasticook Valley Hospital and the Maine Hospital Association Board, and was until recently the Trustee Chairman of both organizations. She was a 1968 graduate of Newport High School, and a 2000 graduate of the University of Maine at Augusta. She was born in Bangor Septema daughter of Francis “Mac” and Virginia “Ginnie” (Hackett) McKenzie.

NEWPORT – Joyce McKenzie Packard, 52, died Saturday close to the waters of Lake Sebasticook, that had warmed her soul with many peaceful contemplations amid her feathered friends of all varieties.
